SEOUL, South Korea-- A Hong Kong business group has begun building North Korea's first casino-hotel, a South Korean news agency has reported, quoting a North Korean news report.

Quoting Pyongyang's official Korean Central News Agency, South Korea's semiofficial Naewoe Press said the Emperor group of Hong Kong broke ground for the $150 million hotel in North Korea's Rajin-Sonbong free trade zone Saturday.

According to Naewoe, the five-star casino-hotel will open with about 100 rooms when first-stage construction is completed by the end of this year at a cost of $50 million.
