Audi Price Hike

FRANKFURT, Germany -- German car maker Audi AG, the luxury car unit of Volkswagen AG, said Friday it plans to raise its prices for several models but to offset the price hikes with improved features.

In a statement, Audi said: "Largely the prices for the A4 and A6 will remain stable in 1997," adding however that list prices will go up by an average 2.5 percent for the A4 model which will feature side-airbags and fog headlights.

Prices for the A3 would be raised by 2 percent while prices for the A8 and S8 would be increased by 2.3 percent. The S8 model will be equipped with Xenon lights.

The group said prices for its convertible would remain steady.

Prices will be increased on Feb. 3, Audi said, adding the last price increase was done in January 1996.
