Last Miner Buried

MOSCOW -- The last of the 67 Russian miners killed in a methane gas explosion was buried Wednesday in the Siberian city of Novokuznetsk, Itar-Tass reported.

The body of electrician Anatoly Brilyov, 36, was found Monday after days of searching the shaft of the Zyryanovskaya mine in the Kemerovo region of Siberia.

Investigators said the explosion at Zyryanovskaya last week, considered one of the worst disasters in the Russian mining industry in decades, might have been caused by the crushing of an oxygen canister between two machines.

But Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin, who is heading the commission investigating the blast, said other possibilities were still being considered.
