Hockey Veteran Dies

MOSCOW -- Veteran Russian hockey coach Igor Dmitriyev has died from a malignant brain tumor, Itar-Tass reported last Sunday. Dmitriyev, 57, was appointed Russia's head coach last year, when the national team finished fourth at the world championships in Helsinki.

He was a player with the "Wings of Soviets" premier-league team in Moscow from 1958-74 and played 430 games, scoring 125 goals.
