Deals of the Week

Size does matter. Length in particular, according to Russian Minister of Railways Nikolai Aksenenko, who announced a number of discounts for long distance fares last week. The top saving is a ticket from Moscow to Vladivostok (9,000 kilometers) which now costs 971,000 rubles ($160), instead of 1,500,000 rubles.

If you're really keen on heading East try Aeroflot (Tel. 155-5045, 156-8019) which is offering round trip flights to Seoul for $350 to $550 from Moscow, or between $400 and $600 if you fly from St. Petersburg.

Aeroflot has even raised the baggage allowance to 40 kilograms for the trip. The offer ends on Christmas Day.
