Lightning Sparks to 6-3 Win, Ends 10-Game Losing Streak

TAMPA, Florida -- Rob Zamuner scored three goals as the Tampa Bay Lightning ended a 16-game winless streak with a 6-3 victory over the New York Rangers.

The Lightning, who had scored a total of nine goals in the second period for the season, scored four in the period against the Rangers on Wednesday as they ended a 10-game losing streak. The Lightning was 0-15-1 in its last 16 games.

Tampa Bay hadn't won since an Oct. 9 victory at Chicago. The Lightning's last point came in a 2-2 tie at Boston on Oct. 23. The win also ended a six-game home (0-5-1) winless streak dating back to an opening-night victory over Carolina on Oct. 1.

Bruins 3, Penguins 3. In Pittsburgh, Ray Bourque, beaten by Mario Lemieux for his first NHL goal in 1984, spoiled Lemieux's retirement party by scoring the final goal as the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins played to a tie.

Bourque scored his sixth of the season at 13:26 of the third period after Neil Wilkinson's 30-meter shot from the red line had put Pittsburgh ahead 3-2 at 7:25.

The Penguins staged an elaborate 30-minute pre-game ceremony to officially retire Lemieux's No. 66 jersey.

"Thank you for making the last 13 years of my life the best 13 years of my life,'' Lemieux said, just before a large No. 66 banner was hoisted to the top of the Civic Arena.

"I have a lot of great memories in this building, the many comebacks from back surgery and Hodgkin's disease, some of the important goals that I scored during our Stanley Cup years. Those memories we can all cherish for the rest of our lives.''

Hurricanes 2, Canadiens 1. In Greensboro, North Carolina, Jeff O'Neill scored midway through the third period as the Carolina Hurricanes broke Montreal's five-game road winning streak.

The Hurricanes, after a franchise-worst 1-7-2 start, have now beaten each of the division leaders except Colorado, which they tied on the road.
