Gas Flows to Georgia

MOSCOW -- Russia resumed natural gas supplies to Georgia's main power station Wednesday after Tbilisi reached a deal with its Russian suppliers over an unpaid $10 million gas bill, Interfax said.

Supplies were restored after talks with Russia's giant Gazprom utility in Moscow, Energy Minister David Zubitashili told a meeting chaired by Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze, Interfax reported. Under the accord, gas supplies to the power station -- which provide 70 percent of electricity produced in Georgia -- will be halted if bills go unpaid for more than 10 days.
