Primakov's Peace Trip

MOSCOW -- Foreign Minister Yevgeny Primakov will meet with Israeli and Arab leaders in the Middle East at the end of this week in an attempt to break the impasse in the peace process, a spokesman said Tuesday.

Primakov will visit Lebanon, Syria, Israel, the Palestinian territories, Jordan and Egypt in his tour that begins Friday and ends Oct. 31, Foreign Ministry spokesman Gennady Tarasov told reporters.

"The aim is to discuss with leaders of all Middle Eastern countries the current complicated situation and try together to get out of the situation -- to give an impulse to constructive" talks, Tarasov said.
