Pick a Packer

KANSAS CITY, Missouri -- The Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs have engineered the first major deal on the NFL's trading deadline in 10 years, as linebacker Wayne Simmons was sent to the Chiefs Tuesday for an undisclosed 1998 draft pick.

The Packers dealt the fifth-year outside linebacker to give Seth Joyner more of an opportunity to play, according to the cable television network ESPN, which added that the pick will be a sixth-rounder.
