Hijaker Captured

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Iranian security guards overpowered an armed man when he tried to hijack an Iranian passenger plane and force it to fly to Iraq, the official Iranian news agency IRNA reported on Tuesday. It said the Iran Air flight 257 was flying from Tehran to the southern city of Bandar Abbas on Monday afternoon when the hijacker threatened the crew with a pistol.

"The hijacker, described by passengers as aged about 30, drew a gun shortly after Iran Air flight 257 took off from Tehran bound for the southern port of Bandar Abbas, and threatened the flight crew, ordering them to change route," said IRNA.
