China Border Pact

MOSCOW -- Moscow and Beijing plan formally to complete the demarcation of their 4,300-kilometer border during President Boris Yeltsin's visit to China next month, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said Tuesday.

Itar-Tass quoted spokesman Grigory Karasin as saying a statement on full and final demarcation was in the works ahead of the official visit planned for early November.

The exact date of Yeltsin's visit has not been officially announced, but Kremlin officials say it is planned for Nov. 9-11.

Most of the long frontier has been agreed and mapped during negotiations which started in 1992.
