Barcelona Pins Hopes on Enrique in Kiev

KIEV -- Barcelona is banking on another scoring boost from midfielder Luis Enrique for its clash with Dynamo Kiev in group C of the European Cup Champions League on Wednesday.

Luis Enrique has been firing valuable goals in the absence of injured Brazilian striker Sonny Anderson, who is to miss Barcelona's meeting with in-form Dynamo before a capacity 100,000 crowd in Ukraine's capital.

The Spanish league leader, though showing excellent form at home where it is unbeaten with 19 points from a possible 21 so far, face a daunting task in Kiev.

Barcelona's performance in Europe has been less impressive, leaving it third in its group with a point from two games, and above last-place PSV Eindhoven only on goal difference.

Dynamo, by contrast, has been the surprise of Group C, going top with four points and a superior goal difference to Newcastle United. A win for Kiev would put Barcelona's qualification in serious jeopardy.

Barcelona coach Louis van Gaal, in Kiev on Saturday to watch Dynamo's 1-0 victory over local rivals CSKA Kiev, said he most feared Dynamo's midfield while Barcelona had the edge up front.

Dynamo will be hoping to counter Luis Enrique with the return to the side after injury of defender Oleh Luzhny.
