Andre Leaves Grozny

MOSCOW -- French aid worker Christophe Andre flew out of Chechnya on Friday at the end of an almost four-month hostage ordeal, amid controversy over the circumstances surrounding his escape from his captors. Jean-Philippe Petit, a spokesman for the medical charity Medecins sans Frontieres confirmed the 30-year-old Frenchman left the Chechen capital. The departure of the MSF aid worker had been in some doubt after the Chechen authorities had demanded to interview Andre over suspicions that a ransom had been paid to secure his release.
