ATHENS -- Greek Prime Minister Costas Simitis on Tuesday inaugurated a Russian pipeline that will supply up to 2.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Greece by the beginning of the next century.


"It will lower our dependence on oil and help our energy security as well as increasing economic development," Simitis said at the inauguration.
