Pakistan in Final Over Victory

NOTTINGHAM, England -- After losing the first two one-day matches against England, Pakistan hit back with a thrilling final-over victory in the final game Sunday.

England opener Nick Knight scored his second century in two days to steer England to 246 all out in 50 overs, but Pakistan overhauled the score with just two balls remaining when wicketkeeper Rashid Latif (31 not out) hit seven runs off all-rounder Adam Hollioake to give Pakistan a two-wicket victory.

Pakistan began its chase with an opening partnership of 93 runs between Saeed Anwar (61) and debutante Shahid Anwar (37). A 63-run third-wicket partnership between Ijaz Ahmed and Aamir Sohail had Pakistan on course for victory until Pakistan fell from 177 for three to 219 for seven. Off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq survived a controversial run-out decision, and with one over to go Pakistan got the seven runs off six balls needed for victory.
