Khmer Rouge Pledge

SISOPHON, Cambodia () -- Khmer Rouge dissidents pledged Monday to open resource-rich areas under their control and won support from Second Prime Minister Hun Sen for a pardon for their leader.

Hun Sen and a three-member dissident delegation held a full day of closed-door negotiations aimed at cementing a break in the Khmer Rouge that may hasten an end to Cambodia's civil war.

"This meeting achieved 80 percent of what we want,'' said Ieng Savuth, the son of dissident leader Ieng Sary.
