IMF Lending Rises

WASHINGTON () -- Financial troubles in Russia and Mexico boosted International Monetary Fund lending last year to a record $26 billion.

The fund, which helps governments stabilize their currencies, lent $10 billion to Russia and $9.86 billion to Mexico in its financial year ended April 30, it reported Thursday. All lending in the previous fiscal year totaled $22 billion.
