Gazprom to Expand

BERLIN () -- Russian state gas monopoly Gazprom will increase its exports of natural gas to European customers by 50 billion cubic meters (bcm) a year by 2010, a senior Gazprom official said Monday.

A.D. Sedykh, head of the science and ecology department at Gazprom, told an International Energy Agency conference that Gazprom will increase its production of natural gas from 559.5 bcm last year to 750 to 770 bcm by 2005, and 800 to 820 bcm by 2010.

Exports will rise accordingly, with Gazprom needing exports to go up by 50 bcm by 2010 just to keep its share of the European gas market, he said.
