Funds to Lenin Library

MOSCOW () -- France has extended a credit of 30 million francs ($5.8 million) for Russia's largest library, Russian Culture Minister Yevgeny Sidorov said Monday. Sidorov, according to Interfax, said the money would be used to buy equipment for the Russian State Library, located near the Kremlin and known as the Lenin Library in Soviet times. The report gave no details.

Natalia Davydova, library spokeswoman, said the facility has long been plagued by mismanagement and a severe shortage of money.
