The Wright Choice

LOS ANGELES () -- Memphis center Lorenzen Wright, the seventh player selected in the 1996 NBA draft, signed a $5.3 million, three-year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers Monday.

"I'm very happy to be signed right now," Wright said.

Wright, who broke a bone in his right foot while jogging at the NBA pre-draft camp in Chicago in June, has been cleared to begin full workouts after having a small screw inserted in the foot in a minor surgical procedure last month.

"Everything is looking good right now," Wright said. "I went to check with Dr. [Tony] Daly the last time I was in L.A. and he told me that my foot was healed, so I can begin playing any time."
