Quotas Planned

MOSCOW () -- Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zaveryukha said Russia will impose import quotas on livestock products, Interfax reported Wednesday.

"The government will definitely put quotas on animal husbandry products," the agency quoted him as telling farmers in Siberia. It was not clear precisely which products he had in mind or when quotas would take effect.

Russian trade and agriculture officials repeatedly have made conflicting statements regarding plans for quotas on food and agricultural products.
