Moscow, Far East Road

MOSCOW () -- The Russian government intends to build a 10,000-kilometer highway between Moscow and Vladivostok, Interfax said Friday.

Anatoly Nasonov, head of the road department in the Transportation Ministry, told a news conference in Vladivostok that the department will build the new highway using federal and regional funds. The news report gave no details on when construction would begin or the estimated cost of the project.

Nasonov said the World Bank is considering a $1 million credit to finance road construction projects in Siberia and the Far East.
