MOSCOW () -- Russia launched a cargo spacecraft Thursday to take supplies to the two Russian cosmonauts and one American astronaut aboard the Mir orbiting space station.

The Progress M-32, carried by a Soyuz-U booster rocket, blasted off from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 12:06 a.m. Moscow time Thursday, Itar-Tass and Interfax said.

It carries 400 kilograms of fuel and 2 tons of scientific equipment, food and water for American Shannon Lucid and Russians Yury Onufriyenko and Yury Usachev on the Mir.

The cargo craft is to dock with the Mir in two days, the reports said.
