Israel Talks Resume

JERUSALEM () -- Israeli and PLO negotiators resumed talks on civil issues for the first time in six months Wednesday, facing a fight over the settlement policy of right-wing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"There are many issues on the table, at the head of which is settlements and the Israeli government's decision to cancel the freezing of settlements," Palestinian delegation head Jamil Tarifi said.

The Palestinian-Israeli Civilian Committee convened in a hotel in Jerusalem for its first session since Feb. 14. Israel broke off the meetings after Moslem suicide bombers killed 59 people in attacks in late February and early March.
