Golf's Golden Girl

WOBURN, England () -- Emilee Klein has confirmed herself as the new golden girl of American golf.

The 22-year-old romped to a seven-stroke win in the women's British Open Sunday, her second successive victory and one that earned the petite Californian a check for $124,000.

Six clear at the start of the day, Klein never allowed her lead to go below four, responding every time a challenge was made. Her closing round of 72, which contained only one three-putt bogey, gave her a 15-under-par total of 277.

Fellow Americans Amy Alcott and Penny Hammel shared second place honors with eight under par, a stroke ahead of Britons Alison Nicholas and Lisa Hackney and still another member of the impressive United States contingent, Jane Geddes.
