An Alternate Route to the Airport

Leningradskoye Shosse is the most popular route to Sheremetyevo 2 airport but sometimes the traffic there is terrible, so it's best to have an alternate route just in case.

Your best bet is to use Dmitrovskoye Shosse. There are two overpasses on Leningradskoye Shosse near the Voykovskaya metro station. Take the right lane when you enter the first one and look straight ahead to check out the traffic situation on the second bridge. If you see a traffic jam, take the following route:

Turn to the right from the bridge and drive several hundred meters in the opposite direction following the bridge on your right. At the first intersection, turn to the left to Ulitsa Kosmonavta Volkova and drive straight ahead to the intersection with Bolshaya Akademicheskaya Ulitsa. It is the second intersection on your way. Turn to the left and follow this street, which makes many zigzags for about six kilometers. Next you will see a gasoline station, and a railway overpass in front of you. In front of the overpass, after you pass the gas station, turn right into a street that has no name. You will see the railway on your left and a line of garages on your right.

Drive straight ahead to the big overpass ahead of you, then drive under it and turn left onto it. Now you are on Dmitrovskoye Shosse and you can drive straight ahead to the intersection with the Moscow Ring Road. You turn there and drive to the intersection with Leningradskoye Shosse to get to the airport. It is easy -- just follow the traffic signs.
