Aeroflot Bomb Threat Forces Emergency Landing

WARSAW -- A bomb threat forced a Russian airplane en route from Rome to St. Petersburg to make an emergency landing in Warsaw on Sunday, an airport official said. Police searched the plane and found nothing.

The pilot of Aeroflot Flight 652, expected at Pulkovo airport at 9:20 p.m. Moscow time, made an emergency landing at Warsaw's Okecie airport after receiving a warning that there was a bomb on board. There were 143 passengers on board the Aeroflot TU-154 airliner.

According to Itar-Tass, Aeroflot had recently received two other false bomb threats on planes from Rome to Moscow. It was not immediately known who issued the threat or how it was delivered. ()
