Ukraine Inflation Falls

KIEV () -- Monthly inflation in Ukraine fell to 0.1 percent in June, the lowest since the country gained independence in 1991, officials said Friday.

The rate has dropped steadily since January, when it was 9.4 percent. The rate in May was 0.7 percent. The virtual lack of inflation last month was a result of tight monetary policies, no increase in utility charges and seasonal variations, said an Economics Ministry spokesman, Alexander Sytnik.
