State Wraps Up Inkombank Audit

The Central Bank has finished a review of Inkombank, one of Russia's largest commercial banks, a Central Bank spokeswoman said Friday.

The Central Bank, which initiated the review, will report on its findings next week, probably Monday, Reuters reported.

No further details were immediately available.

The announcement came only a few days after the Central Bank had appointed a group of experts to assist Tveruniversalbank, Russia's largest regional bank, which is reported to suffer from a liquidity shortage.

However, sources at Inkombank Friday said the examination is routine.

"They are doing checks on us and other major banks all the time," said one banker at Inkombank.

"It is an ordinary yearly review," an Inkombank press spokesman said.

Inkombank, founded in 1988, is Russia's fifth largest bank in terms of assets. It has the largest private depositor base among Russia's privately owned banks.
