Russian Trawler Adrift

NAKHODKA, Far East () -- A Russian trawler with a crew of 60 and a broken propeller blade is drifting in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, Itar-Tass reported Thursday.

The trawler Akmolinsk was returning home to the port of Nakhodka in the Far East after five months' fishing near New Zealand when its propeller went out of operation, a Nakhodka Nautical Service Center spokesman told Itar-Tass.

The ship, driven only by winds and currents, was drifting in the central Pacific while another Russian trawler was heading to the rescue, the report said. It was expected to take five days for the rescuers to reach the drifting craft.
