Lazarenko to Visit U.S.

KIEV () -- Ukrainian Prime Minister Pavlo Lazarenko will visit Washington next week and seek International Monetary Fund help to pay the country's massive wages debt, a government source said Thursday.

The source, who did not wish to be identified, said Lazarenko would be in the United States next Thursday and Friday. It was unclear whether he would meet with U.S. President Bill Clinton or Vice President Al Gore.

The source said Lazarenko would meet the IMF board to review the terms of a nine-month $867 million standby loan agreement approved in May.
