Latvia Reshuffles

RIGA, Latvia () -- Latvian Prime Minister Andris Shkele told a news conference Monday he was reshuffling his cabinet to streamline government, cut spending and increase efficiency.

Aides insisted the changes would not destabilise the Baltic state's six-party government of unlikely partners, who include right-wing nationalists and former Communists.

Shkele accepted the resignations of two cabinet ministers, Culture Minister Ojar Sparitis and Regional Development and Environment Protection Minister Maris Gailis, and four state ministers, one of whom will be reappointed elsewhere.
