Kazakh Power Deal

ALMATY () -- Malaysia will build hydroelectric power stations in Kazakhstan in a deal worth about $800 million, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said Thursday.

He made the announcement during a state visit by Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. He said the power stations would be built on rivers in the Almaty and Taldy-Kurgan regions of southeastern Kazakhstan.
