Charter Demand Falls

MOSCOW () -- Many Russian airlines operating passenger charter flights from Moscow are experiencing financial problems because demand is slipping, a senior official at the private Orient-Avia carrier said Thursday.

Vladimir Tikhonov, the airline's commercial director, said his company made a small profit in the first half of the year, but some carriers operating charters alone could collapse.

"They can get no more than $500-$1,000 [profit] from one charter flight now," Tikhonov said.
