Blood Tests for Anwar

BIRMINGHAM, England () -- Pakistan's preparations for the first test at Lord's next week suffered a worrying setback Thursday when opener Saeed Anwar was taken to hospital for blood tests.

The left-hander, who hit a sparkling run-a-ball 131 against Warwickshire at Edgbaston on Wednesday, was taken to a nearby hospital for tests after suffering from a stomach upset overnight.

It is a disturbing development for Anwar, 27, who spent almost a year on the sidelines with a typhoid-type complaint which caused him to miss the tour to Australia last winter.

He only returned to action shortly before the World Cup but has been in tremendous form in England with three centuries so far to his name.
