Becker Takes a Bump

STUTTGART, Germany () -- Boris Becker escaped unhurt when the racing car in which he was a passenger crashed at a test track in Stuttgart on Wednesday.

The former world No. 1 tennis player was one of three passengers in a Mercedes-Benz touring car when it collided with a classic car at the company's test track.

Becker, now ranked fourth in the world, was at the company's headquarters to sign a 10-year sponsorship deal with Mercedes.

The 1996 Australian Open champion was forced to withdraw from Wimbledon this year after injuring his wrist in a third-round match.

He hopes to be able to return for the U.S. Open in August.
