A's Keep Hammering

CHICAGO () -- Terry Steinbach smacked a grand slam and Mark McGwire delivered his major league-leading 35th homer as the Oakland Athletics put on another home run derby to beat the Chicago White Sox 8-4 on Tuesday.

McGwire and Geronimo Berroa belted back-to-back homers in the fourth off Chicago starter Alex Fernandez (9-7).

Steinbach boosted his total to a career-high 24 homers with his sixth-inning grand slam, which staked the A's to a 7-2 lead. Jason Giambi closed the scoring in the ninth with his 19th home run.

Oakland has homered in a club-record 19 straight games, leads the majors with 167, and is on pace to shatter the legendary 1961 Yankees' record of 240 in a season.
