$2.5 Billion Airbus Sale

PARIS () -- The four-nation European Airbus consortium said Monday it had won a big order worth more than $2.5 billion from leasing group GECAS, a new client.

GECAS, or General Electric Capital Aviation Services, ordered 45 jets and took an option on 45 more. GECAS said in a statement from Stamford, Connecticut, the order would exceed $2.5 billion "based on published prices." But industry sources said the company might have won a big discount because of the size of the deal.
