Writer Reinstated

WASHINGTON () -- The U.S. Figure Skating Association has lifted a ban that threatened to sideline a Washington Post sportswriter.

The group revoked the credentials of Christine Brennan in April, saying she had "interjected her personal opinions into her coverage of the sport." Association officials appeared upset at Brennan's criticisms of figure skating, particularly while promoting her recent book, "Inside Edge."After weeks of discussions with George Solomon, The Post's assistant managing editor for sports, the association has agreed to reinstate Brennan.

Brennan will be allowed to cover skating events as long as she did "not promote her commercial interests."
