Telecom Warning

DUBAI () -- The United Arab Emirates telecommunications giant Etisalat has warned it will cut off any customers who abuse Internet services, the official WAM news agency said. It quoted an Etisalat source as saying the company would take the measure against any Internet subscribers who violated the conservative Gulf Arab state's "order and clear laws." The UAE government owns 60 percent of Etisalat. The move underscores concern over access to the Internet in the Middle East's most conservative region where newspapers, magazines, books and films are censored.
