Muster Solves Riddle

LONDON ( -- World number two Thomas Muster finally solved the riddle of English grass by clawing out his first-ever victory on the surface in England at the London grass-court championships.

The burly Austrian clay-court expert subdued tough Frenchman Guillaume Raoux 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 7-6 (7-2) Tuesday to break through on the grass where his previous record in this country consisted of four first-round defeats at Wimbledon.

His only previous grass-court success was in the Davis Cup in South Africa this year, when he had a win and a loss. His overall record on the surface is now two victories and five defeats.

"I'm not very experienced on grass and everything I do is thinking. Nothing comes by instinct and it is quite hard work for me," he said.
