Kasparov to Check Out?

MOSCOW () -- Garry Kasparov's next move will be to leave Russia if the Communists return to power, the chess champion has said.

Many others also will depart if Gennady Zyuganov defeats Boris Yeltsin in the presidential election, Kasparov said at a news conference Saturday.

"On June 16th Russians will have to ... choose between civil peace and civil war," he was quoted by Interfax as saying. He took a potshot at Yeltsin's top reformist challenger, Grigory Yavlinsky, calling him "a political loser" whose experience "relates to projects that have never been implemented."
