Irvin Informer Jailed

DALLAS`() -- A judge has ruled that confidant-turned-informant Dennis Pedini violated a gag order in the drug case of Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin by giving an interview to a tabloid television show.

State District Judge Manny Alvarez on Tuesday cited Pedini for contempt of court, fined him $500 and sentenced him to 30 days in jail after Pedini provided hidden-camera video of Irvin to the syndicated TV news magazine "Hard Copy."

Segments of the programs, which aired last month, were viewed in court Tuesday morning. Much of the video already had been broadcast by Dallas-Fort Worth TV station KXAS.

Pedini secretly recorded video of Irvin following two purported cocaine buys and was paid $6,000 by KXAS for the rights to broadcast the tape.
