Iraqi Oil Exports

VIENNA () -- Iraq raised the prospect that it could soon double the volume of its revived oil sales, as OPEC began talks to work out how to manage even a modest extra burden on the market.

The return of Iraq, now that the United Nations is relaxing a 1990 Gulf War embargo against it, was set to dominate the 100th formal conference of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries.

Ministers held a brief session Wednesday, then adjourned until Thursday. The Iraqi minister, Amir Rasheed, spoke of hopes of a rapid export buildup.
