Truce Plans Reported

LONDON () -- British and Irish security chiefs believe the Irish Republican Army is ready to call a new cease-fire, The Observer newspaper said.

But police fear the guerrilla group battling to oust Britain from Northern Ireland could precede the renewed truce with another major bomb attack on the British mainland.

The Observer, citing security chiefs in London, Belfast and Dublin, said the IRA may call a new cease-fire before the start of all-party talks in Northern Ireland on June 10.
