Reservoir Discovered

SAO PAULO, Brazil () -- Geologists in South America have discovered the world's largest fresh water reservoir -- running underneath an area larger than Spain, France and the United Kingdom combined.

Brazilian authorities Monday confirmed the existence of the Botucatu reservoir, which stretches under 1.6 million square kilometers of land and has an estimated volume of 50 billion cubic meters.

The newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo said the reservoir could supply Brazil's 150 million people for the next 2,500 years.
