Pricey Cricket Bat

LONDON ( -- A bat used by Australian cricketer Don Bradman in 1937 sold at auction Saturday for a world record price of ?23,000 ($35,000).

Auctioneers Phillips said an anonymous telephone bidder purchased the bat that Bradman used to score 212 for Australia against England at the 4th test at the Adelaide Oval.

The previous world record for a cricket bat was set at Phillips in 1981 when ?1,300 ($2,000) was paid for a bat belonging to Jack Hobbs.
