Mideast Summit Ends

CAIRO () -- Palestinian President Yasser Arafat on Sunday ended talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Jordan's King Hussein aimed at drafting a joint stand on the final and thorny leg of the PLO's peace process with Israel.

The three leaders, in Cairo for a one-day summit, decided to hold further talks during the first week of June after Israel's May 29 general elections.

Mubarak, whose country was the first Arab state to sign a peace agreement with Israel in 1979, had been pushing for such a three-way summit since February because of the effect on the region of the "final status" talks, due to be held after the Jewish state's polls.
