Lebanon Bomb Blast

MARJAYOUN, Lebanon () -- Seven Israeli soldiers were wounded in a bomb explosion in south Lebanon on Sunday, the first Israeli casualties in the embattled region since the end of a military campaign against Hezbollah guerrillas last month.

Security sources said the soldiers were wounded when the roadside bomb was detonated by remote control as an Israeli patrol was moving near the village of Sojod in the central sector of a border enclave occupied by Israeli troops since 1985.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack, and claimed four soldiers had been killed.

After Sunday's explosion, Israeli warplanes bombed "terrorist targets" in the eastern sector of the security zone and Israeli troops shelled Iqlim al-Tuffah, a traditional Hezbollah stronghold.
