Harvest Rise Predicted

Russia's grain harvest probably will rise to 75 million to 78 million tons this year from last year's drought-hit harvest of 63.5 million tons, despite a late spring and delays in sowing, Itar-Tass reported Tuesday.

It quoted analysts at the Agriculture Ministry as saying spring sowing was speeding up and winter crops were in good condition.

The ministry in February forecast a harvest of 77 million tons, but some analysts had expressed doubts about whether that level could be reached.
